Bio
Mark Thomas
Vocalist Entertainer
Mark Thomas was born and raised in Chicago, where his lifelong passion for music began at an early age. Surrounded by the classic sounds his parents loved—artists like Al Jolson, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Jerry Vale, and Dean Martin—Mark developed a deep appreciation for timeless vocal performers. Music quickly became a defining part of his life.
As a young listener, Mark eagerly tuned in to Dick Biondi’s radio show, often calling in to request his favorite songs. He spent countless hours browsing local record shops, collecting 45s from some of the greatest artists of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, including The Buckinghams, Wilson Pickett, Bill Haley & The Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Tom Jones. Above all, he was profoundly inspired by his musical idol, the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Throughout high school, Mark embraced this influence by performing Elvis impersonations in drama and chorus productions, further shaping his vocal style and stage presence.
In the early 1990s, Mark expanded his performance career by joining The Second City and ImprovOlympic, where he entertained large audiences five to six nights a week. These experiences strengthened his versatility as a performer and helped establish the dynamic, engaging entertainer he is today.
In 1995, Mark joined his first band, Guitars & Cadillacs, stepping into the role of lead vocalist and performing throughout the Chicagoland area. Among the many venues he entertained, The Sabre Room became a standout stage where he delivered crowd‑pleasing Elvis Presley tributes to enthusiastic audiences. In addition to his Elvis performances, Mark showcased his versatility by covering a wide range of artists, including Brooks & Dunn, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Johnny Rivers, Eddy Arnold, Marty Robbins, and many others.
As the karaoke boom swept the country, Mark expanded his talents into the world of DJ and karaoke hosting. Performing with professional backing tracks, he entertained at numerous public and private events as a solo artist. This chapter of his career offered the perfect balance—allowing him to continue sharing his passion for music while dedicating meaningful time to his family.
During the pandemic, Mark found a new way to stay connected with audiences by hosting Facebook Live performances every other Saturday night. Taking real‑time requests from fans, friends, and family, he created an uplifting virtual gathering place during a challenging time. These shows quickly gained momentum, reaching viewers across the country and around the world. His setlists featured an impressive range of artists, including Paul Anka, Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, The Four Tops, Engelbert Humperdinck, The Temptations, Billy Joel, Tony Bennett, and many others.
Many of these performances can still be enjoyed on his YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@markthomasentertainment9194.
Today, Mark is the lead vocalist of his newest project, Mark Thomas & The Essentials—a four‑piece band featuring lead/rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, and Mark on vocals. Together, they perform throughout the Chicagoland area, bringing classic hits and high‑energy entertainment to venues and events of all kinds.
When he’s not performing with the band, Mark continues to entertain audiences as a solo artist, delivering polished vocal performances backed by professional tracks and covering a wide variety of beloved artists.

“A live concert to me is exciting because of all the electricity that is generated in the crowd and on stage. It’s my favorite part of the business - live concerts.”
